Boiling lakes of lava, bubbling into the air with sprays of molten rock and ash fill a relatively flat plane of twisting ash trails and dark fortresses on the horizon. A great, black range of mountains of ash rise into the sky, surrounding the glowing terrain where great beasts erupt from the glowing depths of the fiery terrain. Phlegethos is where the Countess Fierna rules, plotting her rise to notoriety while quietly advancing her agenda from within her ashen walls, and wicked goddesses who seek to thwart her plans. It is a place of crossroads, leading through the lower planes to other areas. It is an early taste of the terrors that lie even deeper within the darkness of the continent where no mortal shall find peace.
