This spell combines earth and air to let the caster detect the presence
of debilitating substances. This includes both poisons which have been
created naturally by decay (spoiled food) and those that have been
unnaturally added to a vessel or being. Thus, a scorpion's poison will
not be detected: it is part of the scorpion and does not harm it in any
way. But if that same scorpion stings a victim, the victim will be seen
to be poisoned. Because air and earth are intrinsically inimical to each
other, this mode of perception cannot be set in a stable fashion. The
hex must be cast upon each item or person which the caster wishes to
analyze. Those casters whose magicks are strongly linked to lifeforce
manipulation find this particular spell much easier than regular mages.
