Mighty warriors sometimes tire of fancy swordplay and decide to simply
plow into their enemy, attempting to overbear them. This is done with
the 'bash' skill. Your chance of success with bash depends on the
relative level of you and your foe (in your case your bard or warrior
level), your strength, and how well you have learned the skill.

A successful bash results in the foe taking a small amount of damage and
being knocked somewhat off-balance. When someone (and here I mean someone
with legs, and not a whole heck of a lot of legs either) is sufficiently
off-balance, they will fall over: at this point, the target has to
concentrate on getting back up rather than fighting, casting spells, etc.

Bashing can also stun the victim, preventing him from doing anything
complicated like casting spells for one or two rounds; it also stuns
the basher for a round.
