Before the creation of iron and steel for which to forge edged weapons,
natives of the land used rudimentary tools such as specially sharpened
stones, dried and stretched animal tendons to create, and flexible
lengths of wood to create such ranged weapons as bows, arrows, and
slingshots. Later, hollowed out bamboo shafts were discovered to be
able to propel tiny slivers of wood that could be coated with poisons
to disable prey. Using the century-old skill of archery, an
adventurer may 'load' these weapons with arrows, darts or pebbles, and
'fire' them at their opponents.

This skill may only be used from the back row. It is a form of ranged
combat.

Certain types of ammunitions only go with certain types of fireweapons.
A player's dex and strength play a decisive role in determining which
type of weapon they can use along with the different types of restrictions
set on each weapon.

Different types of fireweapons cause different levels of damage. Certain
fireweapons may be fired more than once a round and others may take
slightly more time.

If you are engaged and using your melee attacks against a mob,
you can still use this type of combat by simply switching to a fireweapon
and firing one of your arrows( or whatever type of ammunition you have)
at the creature. If you pass a skill check, you will automatically disengage
from the mob and continue the rest of the battle as an archer or until
you decide to reengage the mob. Player's hoping to use this as a replacement
to the disengage skill beware! There have been nasty precautions taken to
cover this.

A player may also simply start the battle out in the backrow firing their
fireweapons without engaging their target. If this is done and not enough
front row players are distrating the creature, there is a very good chance
that you will take a hit or two and be dragged into the front row.

If you decide to initiate battle with your target using a fireweapon, lets
just say you will probably die in the front row!

Quivers have been added ingame. These containers will work exactly as the
"thieves pouches" do and can be of great help to anyone using this skill.
Players will be able to store their arrows in this container. They may
then simply fire their weapon at the target and the game will automatically
get the ammunition from the quiver, load it in the load eq slot, and fire
away at the creature removing all hassle the skill may of had in S3.
